Sleepy Cottage also made an appearance in The Vicar of Dibley. Take a look inside...

The characterful chocolate box cottage that was used as Tom's house in the famous wartime drama, Goodnight Mister Tom, is for sale in Turville, Buckinghamshire for £795,000.

Sleepy Cottage is a pretty property with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, two reception rooms and beautiful gardens. Fully carpeted, with fresh white walls throughout, the property doesn't need much renovation.

The home was John Thaw's character in Goodnight Mister Tom, where nine-year-old William went to stay during the war. Used for both interior and exterior shots, fans of the 1998 film are certain to recognise some famous features. Sleepy Cottage has also made an appearance in the much-loved BBC sitcom, The Vicar of Dibley, too (the famous Dibley church is situated next door).

You'll discover a wealth of period features including a brick fireplace, vaulted ceilings with exposed original timber beams, cottage-style windows and wooden doors. The cottage might be completely bare inside, but this gives new homeowners the chance to put their own stamp on it.

Outside, you'll discover a private paved patio garden with a greenhouse, plus a carport and a small lawn area.

"A truly magical cottage in the centre of the village of Turville, used for the filming of Goodnight Mister Tom, with other popular TV shows and films made nearby," Charlie Chavasse, property agent at Savills says.

Sleepy Cottage is located in the sought-after Chiltern village of Turville, which is famous for its appearance in numerous films and TV programmes including the Vicar of Dibley, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Midsomer Murders. As well as traditional country pubs, there are plenty of walking routes, beech woodland areas and bridleways nearby.
