Widely recognised as Cannes Film Festival's closing party annually, the amfAR Gala is a glittering, black-tie who's who of Hollywood, hosted at the prestigious Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France.
Held in benefit of the Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR), the event's guest list reads like a page of IMDB, with invitees over the years including the likes of Robert De Niro, Naomi Campbell, Cara Delevingne, Leonardo DiCaprio, Baz Luhrmann, Tom Hanks, Karl Lagerfeld, Uma Thurman and so, so many more.
For 2023, event host and Grammy-winning musician Queen Latifah welcomed partygoers Rebel Wilson, Fan Bingbing, Sara Sampaio, Bianca Balti, Heidi Klum, Stella Maxwell and Alessandra Ambrosio to walk the famous stone steps of the palatial Cap-Eden-Roc, for a night of dinner, fashion presentations and live performances by Halsey, Gladys Knight and Adam Lambert.
One of the key philanthropic components of the evening comprises of a live auction, to further raise money for amfAR. Among the most coveted prizes, since the event's 1993 nascency, were a trip to space with DiCaprio (yes, really), a private portrait with legendary photographer Annie Leibovitz and art works by Warhol and Hirst.
The roster of items up for grabs this year was no less impressive, but one item on the list was particularly attention-grabbing - a chance to be the very first owner of Aston Martin's latest supercar, the DB12.
Unveiled for the first time just the previous night, at a private pre-amfAR party at Cap-Eden-Roc, the DB12 has been coined as the brand's first 'Super Tourer' - a wholehearted step up from the Grand Tourers of the past, elevated by ultra-luxury design in both the interiors and bodywork, as well as high-performance elements like a best-in-class power output of 680PS/800Nm from its 4.0 V8 Twin-Turbo engine.
During the private reveal, the 'iridescent emerald' machine was unsheathed by Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll - Aston Martin's Formula One drivers, just days before they compete in the Monaco Grand Prix - to an audience that included Catherine Zeta-Jones, Michael Douglas, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Beckinsale, Winnie Harlow and Ashley Graham.
At amfAR the following night, Eva Longoria and James Marsden took to the stage to announce the first DB12 at auction and onlookers were thrilled to see it raise a staggering £1.3million.
The Launch Edition sold at the auction will be the first Super Tourer to be hand delivered to a customer, and the new owner will also have the opportunity for Alonso and Stroll to autograph the engine cover, should they wish (and who wouldn't).
